The Wheel of Fortune and the 9 of Swords.

Posted on 27 March, 2018 at 4:50 Comments comments (0)

The Wheel of Fortune & the 9 of Swords from the Happy Tarot have a message for us today.

The Wheel reminds us of the cycles of life, how there are ups as well as downs, life & death, light & dark, quiet & busy times. We're not static; there is constant movement in our lives, even if we're not always aware of it- it's like the saying “day to day nothing changes, but when we look back everything is different.” This can give us hope if there are problems we nee...

Strength and the Queen of Wands.

Posted on 26 March, 2018 at 6:25 Comments comments (0)

I'm using The Happy Tarot this week 7 our cards today are Strength & the Queen of Wands. This deck manages to help you see the best in most situations, even the difficult ones, hence its name :)

The message from these cards for us is to remind us to keep going; we're more able than we realise & can have a good go at attempting the things on our “to do” lists. Sometimes we just have to persevere, get on with all the jobs we don't really want to do & accept that n...

The 3 of Swords and Temperance.

Posted on 23 March, 2018 at 5:10 Comments comments (0)

The 3 of Swords makes another appearance today, this time paired with Temperance. The pain shown in the 3 of Swords doesn't have to last forever; we have more power than we realise & it's time to see about getting some control in the situation that's causing the pain & upset. We can be a victim, or try to do something about it & make things work out in a way that suits us better. Even if we can't make things 100% perfect, or forget what was said or done, we can make a decision tha...

The Chariot and the 3 of Swords.

Posted on 22 March, 2018 at 4:15 Comments comments (0)

Today's cards from the Legacy of the Divine Tarot are The Chariot & the 3 of Swords. These images have quite different feelings to them; there is a lot going on in The Chariot, action, movement & control, but the 3 of Swords is much darker & still, with just part of a face showing that has tears rolling down it. This reminds me that despite our best efforts, we don't always get the results we're after. This doesn't mean we'll never get them, but it means maybe not in the timescale...

Justice and the Ace of Coins.

Posted on 20 March, 2018 at 7:10 Comments comments (0)

Justice & the Ace of Coins are today's cards from the Legacy of the Divine Tarot. Justice relates to balance, ensuring the right thing is done & legal matters, while the Ace of Coins can be about finances & material goods & new beginnings in these areas. The two cards together makes me think of getting finances in order, settling old accounts & pulling things together before starting off on a new project. It's nearly the end of the tax year in the UK, so getting our books ...

The Star and the 8 of Swords.

Posted on 19 March, 2018 at 4:30 Comments comments (0)

I was trying to decide what deck to use this week, when I noticed the Legacy of the Divine Tarot by Ciro Marchetti which has been sitting on the shelf unused for a while, & so out it came. The cards I've drawn for us today are The Star & the 8 of Swords. At first glance these appear to have quite similar imagery, with girls in similar poses on both & light beginning to build up in the background, but looking again you an see that in The Star the girl is looking towards the light &...

The Shape Shifter and Bright Spark.

Posted on 16 March, 2018 at 6:50 Comments comments (0)

The final cards of the week I've drawn from The Heart of Faerie Oracle are The Shape Shifter & Bright Spark. These cards seem quite different in many ways; the first has a lot going on in it & is mainly in shades of grey, while the second has more colour & the fairy in it really stands out.

We live in an ever changing world, so to cope & keep up with everything we need to be constantly ready to change & adapt to the situations we're in & the word around us. This ...

The Speaker of Truth and The Queen of Hearth and Home.

Posted on 15 March, 2018 at 4:55 Comments comments (0)

The Speaker of Truth & the Queen of Hearth & Home are our cards from the Heart of Faerie Oracle today. It's pretty clear to see the meaning of The Speaker of Truth; this is about asking the right questions, listening to the answers we're given & really “hearing” what we're being told. Sometimes it seems that we can hear a certain answer or piece of information & it never really sinks in until we're actually ready or wanting to hear it. When we get the answers we ne...

The Elven Knight and The Heartless Love.

Posted on 14 March, 2018 at 5:40 Comments comments (0)

We've been away for a few days to see some friends & go to their wedding, but we're back home now & ready to go! I've picked another deck by Brian Froud this week- this one is the Heart of Faerie Oracle & today's cards are The Elven Knight & the Heartless Love.

Both cards look quite similar in many ways, but have very different colouring. The Knight is full of greens & purples, whereas the Heartless Love is more brown & beige. The female in the Heartless Love loo...

The Lady of the Harvest and Myk the Myomancer.

Posted on 9 March, 2018 at 5:15 Comments comments (0)

The Lady of the Harvest & a returning Myk the Myomancer are our final cards of the week from The Faeries' Oracle.

Harvests relate to change, phases of life & the turning of the wheel of life. We need to nurture the things we have, let go of anything that's served its purpose & move on to the next chapter in our lives. This can be a lot easier said than done, so we shouldn't be harsh on ourselves while we're going through this process as it takes time to adjust & come to...

Unity and Epona's Wild Daughter.

Posted on 8 March, 2018 at 4:10 Comments comments (0)

Unity & Epona's Wild Daughter are our cards with a message today. Unity looks like a ball of light encapsulated in a stag's head or skull I think. It shows things merging together, & even though there may be different symbols or shapes in the picture they are connected together in a way that's hard for them to be separated from each other. This reminds us that there are connections everywhere in life & that we can use them to help us so we don't have to cope with everything alone....

The Sage and The Laume.

Posted on 7 March, 2018 at 4:05 Comments comments (0)

I've drawn The Sage & The Laume from The Faeries' Oracle today.

While I was shuffling The Sage fell out, so his message must really need listening to today! He almost looks as though he's become part of a tree; his hair & beard becoming twig-like with leaves growing in them. One of his eyes appears to be blind, but this doesn't diminish what he appears to know as his apparent age implies knowledge & wisdom. This card relates to being patient, finding out what we need to kno...

Myk the Myomancer and The Pook.

Posted on 6 March, 2018 at 3:10 Comments comments (0)

Myk the Myomancer & The Pook are our cards today from The Faeries' Oracle. A myomancer is someone who does readings using the movements of mice, in the same way you can use cards, patterns, leaves, body language & so on. Therefore, this card relates to noticing things, reminding us to be aware of the things around us & to look for signs & symbols in our lives to help us with the questions we want answering. A pook is a shape changer or shifter, it can confuse & distort thi...

The Maiden and Epona's Wild Daughter.

Posted on 5 March, 2018 at 9:00 Comments comments (0)

I'm using The Faeries' Oracle by Brian Froud this week, and today's cards are The Maiden and Epona's Wild Daughter. The Maiden is similar to The Fool in Tarot decks; she looks at life through the eyes of a child, seeing the possibility rather than the problems, and the opportunities instead of the risks. She can also be naïve and lacking experience though, so may need help in order to accomplish her plans and desires. Epona's Wild Daughter looks back toward The Maiden- is she there to he...

Death Rites.

Posted on 1 March, 2018 at 3:55 Comments comments (0)

Death Rites, with the Keywords Saying goodbye, Formal occasion and Honouring lives, is today's card from Les Vampires. The word Death can spark feelings of worry and nervousness in us if we think if it in the literal sense, but the word is also used for many situations that are less scary and that we encounter every day. Death often relates to endings; the night ends so that we may begin a new day, we leave an old job so we can start a better one, leaves fall off trees, die and rot away to pr...

Seduction, with the Keywords Allure, Desire and Manipulation, is our card today from Les Vampires. The Vampire in the card appears to have seduced her victim and got more out of the deal than they did looking at the marks on the wall in the background, and so this reminds us that sometimes we can be seduced by a deal or offer than isn't really in our best interests. If we're in a situation where the other party gets more out of it than we do, where we could be hurt, abused or taken advantage ...

Compassion, with the Keywords Empathy, Sympatico and Kindness, is our card today from Les Vampires. This reminds us that the right actions aren't always the easiest to carry out, especially if it means we need to aid people who may not have been very helpful or sympathetic to our own cause. If we can put differences to one side we can help those who need it, try to see things from different points of view and be kind without allowing ourselves to be vulnerable. Being caring doesn't mean we're...

I've picked an oracle deck to use this week rather than tarot, namely Les Vampires by Jasmine Backet-Griffith, and the card I've drawn for us today is Ecstasy, with the keywords Yielding, Rapture, Bliss. The girl in the card looks to be in a dark corner of the forest, but you can see the sun rising behind her and she looks quite content, watching the butterflies fluttering around her.

Looking at this picture, it reminds me that we're all different; we have goals, hopes, desires and pla...

The Knight of Pentacles and the Priestess.

Posted on 23 February, 2018 at 5:20 Comments comments (0)

The final cards of the week for us from the Dark Fairytale Tarot are the Knight of Pentacles and The Priestess. There is a stark difference between the two cards as the Knight is full or energy and movement and looks to have been victorious in his efforts, whereas the Priestess is stationary and static and looks to be contemplating issues to the extent that even if she has been successful in her endeavours, it doesn't always mean there's a happy ending.

The message for us is that being...

The Queen of Cups and the Ace of Swords.

Posted on 22 February, 2018 at 3:15 Comments comments (0)

Today's cards for us from the Dark Fairytale Tarot are the Queen of Cups and the Ace of Swords. In many ways these cards are quite different as Cups are the suits of emotions and love, whereas Swords are the suit of logic and thoughts, however bringing them together can help us to remember that there are two sides to every story, how we need to temper our logic with compassion, and that looking to be emotionally fulfilled can fail if we don't have the ideas to back up our hopes and dreams. Th...
