The 8 of wands, The Moon & the Page of Pentacles.

Posted on 17 April, 2019 at 5:25 Comments comments (0)

I'm quite busy over the next few weeks with a hectic schedule so I'll post when I can, but don't worry, I haven't disappeared off anywhere :)

I'm using The Transparent Tarot by Emily Carding at present, today drawing 3 cards & overlaying them one on top of the other (there are so many ways you can use this deck- it's amazing). Today's cards are the 8 of Wands, The Moon & the Page of Pentacles. This deck enables the cards to interact with each other in a way that isn't possible ...

The Queen of Bedlam.

Posted on 12 April, 2019 at 4:35 Comments comments (0)

The final card for us from The Heart of Faerie Oracle is the Queen of Bedlam. This Queen is surrounded by an unusual array of creatures; a unicorn in armour, fish with eyes where you don't expect them and a thoughtful looking rabbit sitting on top of another fae member to name a few. She herself has an expression on her face that appears to be somewhere along the lines of not believing what she sees and knowing too well that what's going on around her is very real, even if she doesn't want it...

The Queen of Owls.

Posted on 10 April, 2019 at 4:20 Comments comments (0)

The Queen of Owls is our card from the Heart of Faerie Oracle today, with a bright, shining queen amongst a group of happy looking fae folk. You can tell she radiates love, happiness and kindness from the reaction of those around her, helping them get back on track again, look after themselves and generally see the good in the things around them. The Queen has movement to her; she looks as though she's heading in a particular direction with some purpose, and so this can help us to get going ...

The Heart of Faerie.

Posted on 4 April, 2019 at 6:20 Comments comments (0)

Today's card from the Heart of Faerie Oracle is one of the 3 untitled ones that aren't mentioned in the accompanying book. There's a lot going on here, with the picture full of fae folk going about their business with various expressions on their faces. This has a feeling of busyness about it; things that need to be done all around us and the idea of making sure everything on the never-ending list is dealt with in some shape or form, even if it's just added to a new list to do another day! Th...

The Queen of Hearth and Home.

Posted on 3 April, 2019 at 5:15 Comments comments (0)

We have another Queen imparting wisdom from The Heart of Faerie oracle today- this time it's the Queen of hearth and Home. Home isn't just the place we live or go to at night to sleep, we can create a “home” wherever we are; home is us and what we create. We can be at work, on holiday or in a cafe and the area we inhabit can be made into a homely one where we're comfortable and those around us can feel relaxed in our presence. This ability can take time to craft, so if we don't fe...

The Queen of the Day.

Posted on 2 April, 2019 at 5:05 Comments comments (0)

I'm using Brian Froud's other oracle deck for the next couple of weeks. This one is called The Heart of Faerie, and our card for today is The Queen of the Day. This member of the fae family looks to be serene and peaceful, confident in her abilities and sure of herself and what she wants out of life. This is unlikely to have happened overnight or without any input or effort from herself; rather she will have had to spend time learning what's expected of her, living and experiencing life and g...

The Glanconer.

Posted on 29 March, 2019 at 6:25 Comments comments (0)

The final card from The Faeries' Oracle for a little while is The Glanconer. This picture brings out mixed feelings in me; it's as though I'm not quite seeing him for what he really is and each time I look at the card something has changed. This relates to illusions, delusions and glamour- an allure or attraction that may not be quite as it seems to be. Even his name, Glanconer, makes me think of being “conned.” This card reminds us not to rush into making decisions if we're in da...

Taitin the Sylph.

Posted on 28 March, 2019 at 6:25 Comments comments (0)

The card with a message for us today from The Faeries' Oracle is Taitin the Sylph, showing a glittering and glimmering faerie amongst the plants she loves. She's interested in the things around her, curious about life and looking to see what makes everything work. Her favourite word is “why?” a bit like a young child when they're discovering the world around them. This reminds us to look, properly “see” things, and generally be enthusiastic about our lives. We can't gr...

Epona's Wild Daughter.

Posted on 27 March, 2019 at 7:25 Comments comments (0)

Epona's Wild Daughter is today's card from The Faeries' Oracle and shows a bright member of the fae family leaning on or being held up by another faerie and an owl. There are extremes and opposites in this card; the light and bright sparkling faerie with the darkness surrounding her, plus her apparent comfort compared to those who are holding her up and enabling her to act in this way. This makes me think of how you shouldn't read a book by its cover or jump to conclusions without knowing all...

G. Hobyah.

Posted on 26 March, 2019 at 6:05 Comments comments (0)

I'm still using the Faeries' Oracle by Brian Froud this week, and today's card is a rather strange looking creature named G. Hobyah. This card reminds me a bit of the 9 of Swords in a Tarot deck; it relates to imaginary fears and unreal hazards. Our first look at him may bring feelings of worry or uneasiness, but looking more closely is it just that he's old and wizened or looks different to how we imagined the fae would be? In other words, are the issues in our heads rather than being actual...

Ilbe the Retriever.

Posted on 21 March, 2019 at 7:05 Comments comments (0)

Ilbe the Retriever from The Faeries' Oracle sounds like a dog's name, and if you think about how a dog brings a ball back to us after we've thrown it, then this is a good analogy for him. He helps us find things we've lost, whether these are physical items, hopes, dreams or ideas, and helps us to try and find them. This can be obvious in that we've lost our glasses and they then turn up, albeit in an unusual place, or it could be more subtle, like seeing signs around us reminding us of a drea...

Taitin the Sylph.

Posted on 20 March, 2019 at 5:25 Comments comments (0)

Today's card from The Faeries' Oracle is Taitin the Sylph, showing a brightly lit faerie amongst the foliage. She looks to be flitting about, not staying n one place for too long as there are so many things that catch her interest. This reminds me of a small child being inquisitive, asking questions and wanting to know how and why things work the way they do. The message here is about awakening our senses to the things around us, noticing the mundane and being interesting in it. We have brain...

Geeeeeooo the Slow.

Posted on 19 March, 2019 at 6:50 Comments comments (0)

Geeeeeooo the Slow from The Faeries Oracle is fairly self-explanatory for us today; take it easy and don't rush matters. We can cause ourselves more stress and upset by trying to rush things through faster than they need to be done, and we can even cause more harm that good by acting in haste at times. This is about taking the time to see the smaller things in life as well such as appreciating sunrises and sunsets, seeing the beauty in nature and noticing our children's achievements- however ...

The Bodacious Bodach.

Posted on 18 March, 2019 at 7:10 Comments comments (0)

I've chosen an oracle deck to use for the next couple of weeks, namely The Faeries' Oracle by Brian Froud, and today's card is The Bodacious Bodach. This faery doesn't look too inspiring or as though he's up to any good. This is because he's the type of fae who likes to “fix” things, even if you don't want any help. This can result in meddling, tampering or even sabotage, all in the name of “being helpful.” This is a reminder that not everyone who comes to our aid has ...

The 2 of Wands.

Posted on 14 March, 2019 at 7:00 Comments comments (0)

Today's card from the Vanessa Tarot is the 2 of Wands, showing a woman doing science experiments in her kitchen. After the 2 of Swords earlier in the week, again this is about making choices and contemplating our current situation so we can see whether it still makes up happy and fulfils us or not. Wands relate to power, action, desires, creation and activity, so sitting around isn't something that's advised here. Instead today's message is about getting out there and making things happen. On...

The Empress.

Posted on 13 March, 2019 at 6:25 Comments comments (0)

The Empress from the Vanessa Tarot shows a woman relaxing in a garden full of flowers in a scene of sunshine and abundance. She looks to be happy, comfortable and content, nurturing the plants around her and encouraging their growth. This is a good example to follow in our own lives; if we can look after and tend to those who need us we'll be rewarded by seeing the growth in them and be satisfied and fulfilled by the job we've managed to do. This isn't about wearing ourselves out, slaving awa...

The 2 of Swords.

Posted on 12 March, 2019 at 6:50 Comments comments (0)

The 2 of Swords from the Vanessa Tarot shows a blindfold wearing, sword carrying tightrope walker- that's certainly a balancing act if ever I saw one! She obviously has a lot on her mind and can't afford to make a wrong move. This relates to choices, contemplating whether we're on the right path or not, or turning away from the things we know in order to try something that's new to us. This isn't something we should take lightly though; it demands our concentration, clear thought and dedicati...

The Devil.

Posted on 11 March, 2019 at 5:55 Comments comments (0)

Today's card from the Vanessa Tarot for us is the Devil, showing a man chained to the bed by his lover. The question to consider here is whether he is in this position due to his own choice and actions or if he is here against his will? There are various interpretations for this card; it can relate to lust, passion and following our desires, or there's a darker side relating to oppression, repression and bondage (but not in a good way!! :) ). How does the Devil find us today? It could be ther...

7 of Wands.

Posted on 6 March, 2019 at 5:20 Comments comments (0)

The 7 of Wands from the Vanessa Tarot shows a warrior defending herself against an unseen army. She appears to be under siege, or at the very least being backed into a corner and having to stand up for herself if she wants to gain any ground. She's matching like with like; doing what needs to be done in order to hold the others off and keep them at a safe distance. In some situations diplomacy is called for, and other times brute force is the best option to get decisive results. We may feel w...

The High Priestess.

Posted on 5 March, 2019 at 7:40 Comments comments (0)

I'm using the Vanessa Tarot for the next couple of weeks, and today's card with a message for us is the High Priestess. This High Priestess looks confident and approachable sitting on her throne. She's holding a mirror in her hand and has an owl by her side; the mirror represents being able to see inside ourselves, our inner most truths and being aware of our subconsciousness, and her companion relates to the symbol of owls being wise. This reminds us to listen to our intuition, to take notic...
