The Weird.

Posted on 19 November, 2019 at 5:15 Comments comments (0)

I haven't used the Major Aracana only deck, The Portland Tarot, for a while and was drawn to it this week after a busy time recently which meant I haven't posted as much as usual. Looking to see if there is any significance to this choice I take the fact that this is a much smaller deck than I usually use regarding the number of cards in it, while it being one of the largest I have in card size (measuring 10cmx15cm), as being important. This makes sense as I need to have less on my to do list...

The 2 of Pentacles.

Posted on 7 November, 2019 at 6:10 Comments comments (0)

The Two of Pentacles from the Witches' Tarot shows a young boy juggling two large coins, showing he has a lot on his plate, but to date he appears to be managing to cope with it all. This list of things to do is never-ending though, leading him to wonder how long he can keep up this work and when it will all get to much for him.

This is likely to be relevant to many of us; how many times do we take on more work, commitments and projects without a thought as to how we're actually going ...

The 10 of Swords.

Posted on 6 November, 2019 at 6:40 Comments comments (0)

The 10 of Swords from the Witches Tarot doesn't look to be a very promising card. There's a man lying on the ground face down with 10 swords pushed into his body. The landscape is desolate with no sign of help on the way- things can't really get much worse than this! An owl watches on from its perch on the barren tree, having seen what happened, but being unable to assist in any way.

This card is one of those that says things can't really get any worse than they are now; a situation t...

The Knight of Cups.

Posted on 5 November, 2019 at 4:15 Comments comments (0)

The Knight of Cups from the Witches Tarot shows a young man on his horse, holding his chalice out before him, showing he's bearing a message from his heart. He's creative, in touch with his emotions and appreciates the beautiful things in life, shown by his opulent clothing. This is a reminder for us to listen to the intuitive, creative and emotional sides of ourselves, to approach life with love and enthusiasm and to be as kind and caring as possible. The first answer we may have for someone...

The 3 of Pentacles.

Posted on 4 November, 2019 at 5:10 Comments comments (0)

This week's deck is the lovely Witches Tarot by Ellen Dugan and Mark Evans, and today's card is the 3 of Pentacles showing a man hard at work, perhaps spending more time than he had anticipated it would take to complete his assignments. His cat watches on, hinting that food and attention are wanted, but the man continues to work on regardless. This card comes up when there's something we need to concentrate on in our lives, a skill we need to practice and hone or a project that needs a lot of...

The 3 of Bats.

Posted on 1 November, 2019 at 6:45 Comments comments (0)

The final card from the Halloween Tarot for us this week is the 3 of Bats (often Swords), showing a large heart being held onto by two bats, with another on its way. The cat below doesn't look happy with the situation at all, especially with the storm raging away above them all too. This relates to painful situations, to heartache and having to deal with emotional issues. If we let these events take over our lives we could find things spin out of control at an alarming pace. However, if we ta...

The 9 of Bats.

Posted on 31 October, 2019 at 5:30 Comments comments (0)

In the Halloween Tarot the suits are Bats, Ghosts, Pumpkins and Imps. Today's card is the 9 of Bats, and Bats represent the traditional Swords suit in Tarot, the suit related to the element of air. These bats are flying around the woman who's been trying to sleep. She's covering her eyes, trying to ignore them, but she knows she'll have to face them eventually which is why she's sitting up. She's not quite ready yet, but she hopes that with the start of the new day ahead she'll get inspiratio...

The Sun.

Posted on 30 October, 2019 at 5:25 Comments comments (1)

I couldn't let October go by without getting out the fun Halloween Tarot by Kipling West, so here it is, and The Sun card has a message for us today. All the ghouls, skulls and animals in this picture look to be happy and contented, with the sun shining brightly behind them, lighting up their lives. They know they can't live their lives just in the dark and that balance needs to be found to get the most out of the situations they're in, so they're embracing the warmth and light the sun is bes...

The final card of the week from the Witches' Wisdom Oracle deck is Athame, with the keyword Boundaries. This reminds us to get straight to the point, focus on what we want and to stop dithering or procrastinating before getting started on our plans. If we don't have direction we'll find it harder to get the results we ultimately want, so it's time to sharpen our approach to our plans, cut through any outstanding issues and clear the way ahead so we can make the progress we desire. By setting ...

Magic Circle.

Posted on 24 October, 2019 at 4:45 Comments comments (0)

Today's card from the Witches' Wisdom Oracle deck is Magic Circle, with the keyword Protection. This relates to looking after and protecting ourselves (using magical as well as normal methods), being aware of those around us, and trying to discern who has our best interests at heart and who may be acting in a sly or divisive way, intending to throw our plans off track. We may want to trust people implicitly, but it's sensible to take our time to get to know them better first and consider care...

Spirit, with the keyword Initiation, is today's card from the lovely Witches' Wisdom Oracle deck. We all have our own definition of spirit and how we're connected to it. Some people prefer to follow a religion or be part of a group to explore theirs, while others like a more solitary approach or look to find a connection with nature. Each path is own own, and so we should do what feels right to us rather than trying to fit in with what's expected by others as we discover what spirit means to ...

This' week's Witchy deck is the Witches' Wisdom Oracle and Litha is today's card, with the key word Intensification. The picture shows Stonehenge at the Summer Solstice, when many believe the place is magical and go there to help manifest their dreams as well as celebrating the sun that brings life to the world. The sun shines brightly, relating to power, abundance and fulfilment. These are all positive attributes for us to aim for and to encourage into our lives. It takes time for our plans ...

The 4 of Swords.

Posted on 18 October, 2019 at 9:05 Comments comments (0)

The final card from The Dark Mansion Tarot this week is the 4 of Swords, showing a forlorn looking woman sitting quietly in a graveyard. She's dressed up so appears to have been busy with her necessary tasks before coming to this place, and will no doubt carry on with them after she's spent some time here with her thoughts. This relates to taking some time to think about our lives, to find a quiet space just for ourselves where we can contemplate the issues we need to deal with, helping us to...

The Page of Swords.

Posted on 17 October, 2019 at 5:10 Comments comments (0)

The Dark Mansion's Page of Swords shows a feisty looking young man holding his sword, ready to spring into action. He has plenty of ideas and plans he wants to see become reality, and doesn't have much patience while he's waiting for them to get off the ground. It's great he has the drive and energy for these projects, but if he rushes into them too fast he could make a mistake he'll regret at a later date. This reminds us to check over our paperwork, to ensure we have everything we need in p...

The Hanged Man.

Posted on 16 October, 2019 at 5:40 Comments comments (0)

The Hanged Man from the Dark Mansion Tarot shows a vampire suspending himself from a tree, seemingly quite happy with his situation. What would be uncomfortable or painful for some isn't a problem for him, plus it gives him some time to think about his position and consider his options regarding what he plans to do next. It can be frustrating being in limbo, having time on our hands when we want to get going with a project or waiting for an answer about something that's important to us. If w...

The Empress.

Posted on 15 October, 2019 at 3:50 Comments comments (0)

I get the spooky vibe from the beautiful Dark Mansion Tarot so that's the deck I'm using this week continuing with my Halloween type October theme, and today's card is The Empress. This woman looks to be very well adorned, surrounded by an abundance of crops with her lavish castle home in the background. There doesn't appear to be much else she'll want or need and she looks to be happy and contented with her situation. As well as showing us what we already have, encouraging us to be grateful...

The 7 of Knives is the final card of the week from the Tarot of the Vampyres. It shows a vampire angel holding a blood covered knife with a pool of blood on the floor behind her. It's not clear what's happened, but some sort of of treachery appear to have taken place. This card relates to mystery, deception and intrigue. It could be we're about to understand something that's been bothering us, our ideas could be stolen by others or someone may be planning to deceive us or do something we won'...

9 of Skulls.

Posted on 10 October, 2019 at 6:00 Comments comments (0)

The 9 of Skulls (often Coins or Pentacles) from the Tarot of the Vampyres shows a vampire enjoying the pleasures of life. She's adorned with jewels and beautiful clothes, dancing in the moonlight, seemingly without a care in the world. This reminds us we're allowed to appreciate our good fortune, the results of our labours and any material gains we have. After working hard we shouldn't feel guilty for being rewarded for our time and efforts; instead we should be pleased with what we've manage...

Strength is the card with a message for us today from the beautiful Tarot of the Vampyres, with a vampyre in control of and riding bareback on a large black panther. Her body is in a confident pose, showing she's confident in her abilities to keep it under control. If anything she appears to be harnessing its energy, power and drive for herself, adding to her own strength and resolve, so helping her to remain positive and assertive in her endeavours. This can inspire us to follow her example,...

6 of Grails.

Posted on 8 October, 2019 at 5:50 Comments comments (0)

This week's spooky deck is the Tarot of the Vampyres by Ian Daniels, and today's card is the 6 of Grails (often called Cups). There's a serenity and peace to this card; the vampyre holds a full grail, taking it to give to someone she feels needs it more than her, putting the needs of others above her own. She'll take what she needs from it, but not overindulge herself, which is a reminder to us to do the same and find a balance we're happy with. As this is from the suit of Grails/Cups it rela...
